Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Indiana Grand and Saratoga Picks for August 26, 2020 August 25, 2020 Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Indiana Grand and Saratoga Picks for August 26, 2020 August 25, 2020 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article As a new race week begins, the Mahony Stakes is on tap as the Wednesday feature for 3-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf. Also included below: my 9-race preview of Indiana Grand for FREE! Best of luck! ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 6: $25,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt #3 Assume absolutely rolled in her lone start at Saratoga. She had to drop down to Maiden Claiming competition to win, but she did so very impressively. This is her logical next start. Race 7: Mahony Stakes for 3-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf #6 Island Commisioner may get the perfect trip in this spot, as he will sit right behind Maven and Jack and Noah and look to pass them late. #8 Maven will look to stay unbeaten for Wesley Ward who is winning at 24% in stakes races in the last 365 days. I’m leaning on the Quick Call Stakes (G3) for guidance in regards to the next two runners. #9 Jack and Noah was pestered the whole way but faltered late and only beat one horse. At 4/1, there is value here. Race 8: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf #4 Blowout has finished in the money in all 4 starts. After her maiden win at the beginning of 2019, she’s faced stakes competition all over the east coast. Her stakes experience makes her the runner to beat. #5 Catch a Bid is a true turf miler. She’s won 2 of her 3 starts going a mile and has a win to her name over the Saratoga track as well – the 2019 Riskaverse Stakes. Race 9: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf #4 Bastet has shown speed in the past but has failed to hold on late in the stretch. The cut-back in distance makes a lot of sense and she should be tough to beat on the front end. #7 Dial Me Up tries the turf for the first time for Christophe Clement, who wins at 17% in the last 365 days when his runners make their first turf start.
