Ricky’s Rockets ?: Lone Star Park and Saratoga Picks for August 5, 2020

It was a tough stretch for Ricky’s Rockets last Friday and Saturday, but we made a lot of it back on Sunday afternoon, hitting the Late Pick 4 and 5 at Saratoga. We’re back with a 10-race card and the Summer Colony Stakes as the featured event.

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Black Magic Woman has posted great morning workout times and is by top win-early sire Uncle Mo. #5 Harlem Heights‘ last start was her first in over nine months. This spot should give us a true indication of her talent.

Race 8: $50,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#4 Dunph has run competitively at similar levels and won 2 straight at Oaklawn Park earlier this year. #8 Han Sense makes his Saratoga debut after facing much tougher competition in the past. He nearly won last time out in his return after 4 months away.

Race 9: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt OFF TURF

#2 Traipsing closed well to win at a similar level two starts back at Gulfstream Park. Trainer Christophe Clement and jockey Joel Rosario have been killing it so far this meet, winning 11 of their first 27 mounts together. #6 Foxtail is a true turf runner but her speed should translate in this short field. She also won her lone start at Saratoga.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt OFF TURF

#5 Herwaze stays in the race for the connections after three straight turf starts. She is clearly the second choice behind the big favorite. #9 Beyond Brown makes her first start for a tag and gets top jockey Jose Ortiz to ride for trainer David Donk, who’s won twice on the turf so far this meet.
