( Content Continues Below Ad ) Breaking from post 3 under Patrick Husbands as the 6/5 favorite, Curlin’s Voyage sat off while Infinite Patience narrowly led Justleaveitalone for the early running. Tipping off the rail to make her move midway through the far turn, Curlin’s Voyage straightened for home alongside the top pair and with Avie’s Samurai to her outside. Digging deep in the stretch, the Josie Carroll trainee outdueled her competition to win by a head in a final time of 1:23.91 for the 7-furlong fast synthetic main track. “Going down the back, it was a lot of ‘cat and mouse’ game,” Husbands said. “About the 3/8 pole, I had enough of this; I just had to get in gear and get the job done. … To me, she’s a better filly going two turns and we look forward to her next race.” Justleaveitalone ran tough in defeat and outlegged Infinite Patience by 1 length. Avie’s Samurai evened out in the stretch before finishing fourth ahead of Mizzen Beau and Gun Society, who completed the order of finish. Curlin’s Voyage’s win was her first of the year following a runner-up effort in the Star Shoot Stakes and improved her overall record to 8-4-2-1. The 3-year-old Curlin filly has now earned $273,420 for Hill ‘n’ Dale and co-owner Windsor Boys Racing. Curlin’s Voyage returned $4.60 to win, $3.10 to place, and $2.50 to show. Justleaveitalone brought back $26.60 to place and $6.90 to show, and Infinite Patience paid $3.20 to show.
