Handicapping NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 11/14 November 14, 2019 Handicapping NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 11/14 November 14, 2019 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article The Big A has gotten off to a fast and furious start. Country Grammer rolled home to victory at almost 10-1. The racing continues on this Thursday afternoon with the Empire 6 carryover of $138,480. There are two maiden special weight races that I’ve previewed as part of this 9 race card. She sparkled in her debut going 6 furlongs over the main track at Belmont back on October 6. Junior Alvarado took her to the lead, but she was caught in the stretch by Power Move. This filly will have some competition for early race positioning out on the lead. Junior Alvarado knows his filly is very versatile and can be placed wherever he thinks is best. Expecting to see this filly at 9/5 at post-time would be unrealistic but she is clearly the horse to beat. Ricky’s Picks: 7-5-2-3 Credit: NYRA Race 4: $62,000 MSW for 2-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) on the turf (horses must have sold or RNA for $45,000 or less in most recent sale) Gary Contessa comes into this race with only one win under his belt through the first eight race days, but he’s been in the money 36% of the time. He has a 2-year-old colt that has finally found his best ground in #8 Justintimeforwine. Throughout 2019 this colt has done just about everything. His connections have figured out that Justintimeforwine needs a ton of distance and needs to be on turf. He comes into this spot with a ton of early speed and can take this field gate to wire if positioned properly from the start.
