Here we go: 1. Kelby/Evil Steveil (7/5) Fierceness – The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner totally rebounded from his Holy Bull Stakes (G3) flop to absolutely crsh the Florida Derby (G1). Catching Freedom – He picked up a huge win for this team in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Hall of Fame – He seems to be overrated, as he did very little running in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Snead – This horse was a solid second in the Gun Runner Stakes at Fair Grounds but has trouble staying on the work tab. Just Steel – He rebounded from a poor effort in the Rebel Stakes (G2) to finish second in the Arkansas Derby (G1). 2. Actual Double Ds (Paul “Free Bears” Withrow) (3/1) Knightsbridge – This solid debut winner was equally impressive against Gulfstream Park allowance horses. Stakes company should be next. Track Phantom – He was a disappointing fourth in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Forever Young – He showed heart to narrowly win the Saudi Derby (G3) and then repeated next out in the UAE Derby (G2). Endlessly – The newest member of the team destroyed the field in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) but will reportedly return to turf, rather than try racing on dirt. Otello – He was a total no-show in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3). 3. Dan Waite and Michael Ossen (5/1) Sierra Leone – We’ll see what the Risen Star Stakes (G2) winner does in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). Book’em Danno – He ran huge in the Saudi Derby (G3) to finish second behind Forever Young. Bergen – The newest member of the team did no running in the Gotham Stakes (G3). Rocketeer – He finally had his first workout of the season on 2/18. Maymun – We’ll see this dazzling prospect show what he can do against stakes company in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). 4. Jared Welch (6/1) Conquest Warrior – He was a complete disappointment in the Florida Derby (G1), finishing fourth. Coach Prime – He was a disappointing third last time out in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2). Timberlake – He couldn’t back up his Rebel Stakes (G2) victory in the Arkansas Derby (G1), fading to fourth. Imagination – He ran his normal race in the San Felipe Stakes (G2), which was good enough to get the job done. We’ll see him try again in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). Mindframe – The newest member of the team dazzled with a 103 beyer on debut. 5. Geist (8/1) Muth – The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) runner-up kicked off his 2024 season winning the San Vicente Stakes (G2). We’ll see him again this weekend in the Arkansas Derby (G1). Air of Defiance – This horse was a solid maiden winner but has not worked since November 3. Stronghold – This horse picked up a huge win for this team in the Sunland Derby (G3). Dimatic – The newest member of this team didn’t make an impact in the Rebel Stakes (G2). He’ll give it another try this weekend in the Arkansas Derby (G1). Mystik Dan – He was a runaway winner of the Southwest Stakes (G3). He’ll look to do it again this weekend in the Arkansas Derby (G1). 6. Vinny Blond (10/1) Domestic Product – The newest member of the team is rapidly improving for Chad Brown. Dornoch – He kicked off his season with a solid win in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2). He’ll return in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). Just a Touch – He ran a solid second in the Gotham Stakes (G3). He’ll also return in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). Scatify – He was a disaster in the San Felipe Stakes (G2). He’ll try sprinting in the Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland. Agate Road – He did very little running in the Louisiana Derby (G2). 7. The Magic Mike Show (20/1) Parchment Party – He’s out until at least the spring with a minor issue. Honor Marie – He rebounded to run a solid second in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Encino – The newest member of the team looked sharp winning the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes at Turfway Park. He’ll try dirt for the first time in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). Tuscan Gold – The newest member of the team might be heading to the Preakness Stakes (G1) next after a third-place effort in the Louisiana Derby (G2). First World War – He picked up 5 valuable points with a win at Gulfstream Park – on turf. He’ll try to do it again on the Keeneland grass this weekend. 8. Shotty and Davey (30/1) Common Defense – The newest member of the team did ok in the Louisiana Derby (G2) but couldn’t hit the board. Liberal Arts – He was a decent third in the Southwest Stakes (G3) but was nowhere to be found in the Arkansas Derby (G1). Otto the Conqueror – He sucks. Deterministic – This was the claim of the year so far, as he won the Gotham Stakes (G3) off of a long layoff. Can he stretch out successfully in the Wood Memorial Stakes (G2)? Real Men Violin – He also sucks. 9. Jon White and Ryan Stillman (30/1) Nash – He WON a race! Taking the Hot Springs Stakes gave this team an all-important 5 points. Tuscan Sky – He was an impressive winner in an allowance race at Fair Grounds to make it 2 in a row. Hades – The newest member on the team was an upset winner of the Holy Bull Stakes (G3) but was a disappointing fifth in the Florida Derby (G1). Victory Avenue – He’s off the trail after struggling to stay healthy. Born Noble – No works since March 1 means this horse probably has some issues. 10. Double Ds (Doc Tang and Doc Miranda) (50/1) Nysos – This horse romped in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) but scratched out of the San Felipe Stakes (G2) and is now out of training for at least 30 days. The Wine Steward – The Breeders’ Futurity (G1) runner-up is working toward making his 2024 debut. Carbone – He was recently second in the Hot Springs Stakes. Moonlight – He was nowhere to be found in the Risen Star Stakes (G2). Amante Bianco – He could do no better than second in a recent race in Japan. 11. Aaron Halterman (50/1) Speak Easy – Don’t even get me started. Merit – Really, just don’t ask. Antiquarian – He broke through the gate in the Louisiana Derby (G2) before running sixth. And yet he’s easily the best horse on this team. Wynstock – Maybe he’ll get 5 participation points for running in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). Who Dey – I’m sure he’ll lose the Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland.
