Michigan got their most significant win in years, against Ohio State last Saturday. They are a lock for their first playoff spot, if they win this weekend against an Iowa team, which is a heavy underdog. One thing we know about Iowa, is, they will bring everything they have to this game. They always do. The other thing we know, is, Michigan has more talent across the board. But, will the Wolverines have a natural letdown after beating the hated Buckeyes and overlook the Hawkeyes? It certainly is in the realm of possibilities that could happen. However, this is to big an opportunity for Michigan to let slip away. Let’s take a look at the betting angles.

Michigan: 26.5 Total Team Points Michigan has a very balanced offense and they are averaging 37 points per game. Last week, they took the ball and crammed it down Ohio State’s throat with a punishing running game. It is surprising to say this, but Iowa is much more physical upfront against the run than the Buckeyes. I doubt if Michigan can line up and run against Iowa. This is where their improved passing game could step up and be the difference this week. If Michigan goes over the 26.5, they will win this game. I like Michigan OVER 26.5 team points.

When I look at their stats, the thing that surprises me the most is their lack of an efficient run attack. They are rushing for only 121 yards a game and I think that is very low for this type of team. The thing that bothers me the most is they are going to have to throw it against the Wolverines to have a chance and they aren’t that great in throwing the ball. They score points off turnovers and good field position and they are going to have to get some breaks. I will take Iowa OVER 17.5 Total Team Points.
