Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Keeneland and Santa Anita Picks for October 15, 2021

The Breeders’ Cup Challenge series has officially ended! With that being said, Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 is back on Friday afternoon as we head back to Belmont, Keeneland and Santa Anita. There are plenty of money making opportunities out there, as we officially hit the three week mark until the Breeders’ Cup! The action is non-stop, and we have it all covered right here!

Belmont Park October 15, 2021

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Mezcal continues to get better in her performances, going from 7th to 5th to 4th. This will be the first time she is traveling 10 furlongs in her career as well. #6 Pruning has the ability to take this field gate-to-wire, if she so desires to. Her biggest issue is giving up the lead late when the race really heats up.

Race 7: Glen Cove Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#3 Caldee has finished second in three straight races, with her most recent race coming here at Belmont Park. She will have to run a bit better, if she’s going to beat #7 Bay Storm, who got the better of her last time out. Bay Storm has both of her career victories at Belmont Park, and seems to be in the best form of her career.

Race 8: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

It’s tempting to want to hit the “ALL” button, but it does seem #1 Patty H and #4 Whispering Pines are a step above the rest. Patty H would like to have her race in the Dogwood Stakes (G3) back, only beating one horse. Whispering Pines.

Race 9: $30,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#4 Count Down returns to Claiming competition, where he figures to fit in a little more naturally. He was overmatched in his race against Starter Allowance competition last time out at Saratoga. #12 Chrome Dixie drops in for a tag for the first time, after four straight races against Allowance fields. He is one of the main candidates to get claimed out of the finale.
