The Somobombs: Picks for Belmont and Churchill Downs, September 23rd - Free Belmont Pick 4!

We are bringing back the daily Somobombs article! Today we are headed to Churchill Downs for a full card coverage with the grid and grid and ticket options available! The card kicks off at 5PM EST for some night Thursday night action packed with two-year-old races which are some of my favorites. There is a Belmont grid available as well and I’m going to cover the late Pick 4 for free below, I think the back half of the card is the better spot to try to make some money!

Race 6 – $50k Allowance – 7F Turf

Weaver sends out #6 Turn Of Events off of two Mile efforts where he showed speed. The 7F distance today should be an advantage here. #12 Subsidize is coming in off the layoff for Chad Brown and coming back protected after taking a step forward second time over the turf in a claimer. Klaravich has plenty of horses, they must think there is something here since we are not returning to the claiming level. Let’s use #4 Restored Order and #7 Determined Fury as well.

Race 7 – $75k MSW (Statebred) – 1 Mile Dirt

The clear favorite here is #5 Blitz to Win. He’s faced solid horses the past 4 and looks to have found the right field in this one. Let’s go two deep and add #8 Big Castle. He’s adding blinkers and coming out of tough races on the grass. He’s bred better for the glass and should take a step forward at 12-1.

Race 8 – $80k N1X (Statebred) – 6F Turf

#12 Get The Candy is looking to do just that by going wire to wire verses a field that does not have blinding speed while returning to the track and distance where she broke her maiden. #8 Tiz a Pity also broke she maiden here at Belmont and then got a brutal trip while closing for second at a shorter distance at Saratoga. Expect her to take a step forward and be very live here. Let’s add #10 Social Whirl, the only other speed, and #7 Jamacia Joy cutting back in distance.

Race 9 – $40 Claiming N2L – 7F Turf

Irad Ortiz Jr. climbs aboard #8 More Like It cuts back in distance after showing speed at a mile and should sit the perfect trip here. #6 King James returns to Belmont, the location of his best three races, and drops in for a tag for the first time. Let’s close the ticket out with the rail speed of #1 Elusive Edge.
