Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for June 18, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 is back and better than ever! It was a fantastic Thursday afternoon at all three tracks, and we were able to start the week off right. We incorporate Gulfstream Park back into the mix on Friday afternoon, and look to make it back-to-back winning days.

Belmont Park June 18, 2021

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#7 Cotton ran one of his better races on the turf last time out with Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard. It was his first race of the year, so I expect him to run even better in this one. #10 Bar Fourteen should be able to show plenty of speed out of the gate and make him a top competitor in this spot. Luis Saez should only help his chances as well.

Race 7: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#5 Jamaica Boy will be looking to make it two in a row for Mike Maker after she won her 2021 debut over a sloppy track. She was able to win going gate-to-wire on May 31. #8 Laura’s Bellamy tried this level last time out and really should’ve won. Irad Ortiz Jr. hops back aboard to try and get her to the winners’ circle.

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#4 Veterans Beach has been given multiple chances to try and win at this level, but this will be his first race of the year. I think some maturity will help him out in a big way. #5 Scocciatore steps up in class, but he was good enough to win against Starter Allowance runners last time out. Look for him to take another step forward.

Race 9: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#6 Translate has been a big favorite in the majority of her races this year, and was 1/2 in her only race at Belmont Park. 8/1 morning line is just too high for her not to use given her talent. #10 Brazillionaire has been as consistent as they come as of late. Her consistency makes her good enough to get on almost all tickets.
