Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Lone Star Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for May 31, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 on a MONDAY AFTERNOON! That’s what we have in store for everyone as we celebrate Memorial Day with some horse racing. For the first time ever, we head to Lone Star Park to cover five stakes races on the card, highlighted by the Sexton Mile (G3). We also head back to Santa Anita for the first time in months, to cover three (G1) races as well. It’s a fantastic day of racing to close out a fantastic May all around the country.

Race 7: Mike Lee Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Market Alert has been a little hit and miss lately, most notably his race in the New York Stallion Series last month. He ran one of the worst races of his life, and will quickly look to rebound here. #6 River Dog has only run once in his career, but that race was utterly dominant. Jose Ortiz gets aboard what could be a monster this year.

Race 8: Kingston Stakes for New York-bred 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt OFF TURF

Race 9: Critical Eye Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#4 Mrs. Orb got her first win for the first time since 2019 for Michael Micelli, and I think she’s going to make it two in a row here. #9 Good Credence has been fantastic when running here at Belmont. In six career starts over this turf course, she’s finished in the money in five of them. Her biggest question mark is: Is this too far for her?

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt OFF TURF
