Papa Dudes Free Churchill Downs Picks for 5/7/21

With the closing of the Oaklawn Park season, I’m moving on to historic Churchill Downs for the rest of their spring/summer meet. I must confess, this is not considered to be one of my “home tracks,” but I still am very familiar with almost all of the trainers and jockey’s here. Still, there will be a bit of a learning curve starting out with the “real” day in and day out Churchill Downs meet basically just beginning. Hopefully I can get a feel for it quickly, and improve as we get going. Last week, I picked 7 winners out of 13 stakes races on the Racing Dudes Kentucky Derby Wagering Guide Friday and Saturday, while also having Medina Spirit as my 2nd choice in the Kentucky Derby. I’ll take that percentage anytime, especially for my debut appearance in the guide! So, let’s dive in to Friday’s card and give this a whirl:

Race 4:

We’ll start off with a small Pick 3 play using my two strong opinions in the first two legs, and then go three deep in the final leg. It was tough to find a single on this card.

The Bet: .50 Cent Pick 3: 1,7 / 4,7 / 3,4,5 = $6

Race 7:

I’ll wheel right back here with another pick 3, going short in the middle leg. Another affordable $9 play.

Race 8:

Ricardo Santana Jr. hops on this Brian Lynch trainee, who cuts back in distance for this event. At 8-1, this one is worth an across the board play.

The Bet: $10 across the board on #9 Osaka Girl

Best Sports Plays of the Day

As the playoffs are nearing I have been on a good streak in the NHL. Let’s see if we can keep up the hot streak.

Washington over Philadelphia

The Capitals are playing for playoff position and Philly is playing for next year.

Vegas over St. Louis

The Knights are fighting for the top spot in the West and the Blues are still trying to clinch the final spot in the division. The Blues need this game more but I don’t see them winning this one.

Colorado over Los Angeles

The Kings are barely alive in the playoff hunt and a loss here will end any hope they still have. The Avs are battling Vegas for first.

Tampa Bay over Dallas

The Stars still have a shot at the final spot in the Central and the Lightning are locked into the playoffs. Dallas is desperate but I’m leaning towards the Lightning.

Finally, let’s throw in 2 NBA games.

The 76ers are an 8.5 point favorite against the fast fading Pelicans. They are at home and I’m playing them to cover.

The Bet: $20 on Philadelphia to cover the 8.5 point spread.

Charlotte is at home against the woeful Orlando Magic. They are favored by 9.

The Bet: $20 on Charlotte to cover the 9 point spread.
