He should improve facing winners for the second time today; however, it might not be enough to pick up the victory. #2 Unified Report – We’ll see if this Louisiana-bred can jump up and win against open company. He was able to do so on debut at Churchill Downs and has since defeated state-bred company twice. His speed figures must improve today, but he’s in with a shot. #3 Pappacap – He has proven to be competitive against the best horses in the crop so far; however, he hasn’t ever been close to actually winning against the likes of Corniche and Pinehurst. This horse has been working extremely well leading up to the race, however, and there is no doubt that this is a class drop compared to what he has been facing. #4 Trafalgar – This horse will look to make it 3 in a row after impressive victories against tough maiden and allowance horses. While longer distances could be a problem, he did win at this distance last time out. He now must prove that he can do it against tougher horses. #5 Epicenter – The horse to beat after an impressive Gun Runner Stakes win last time out faces a tougher field today; however, it isn’t an overwhelming task for him. He should be able to get himself in position early and pounce at the top of the stretch, just like in his last 2 starts. Find Out Why #6 Cyberknife – This horse seemed to improve last time out going long for the first time, even though he still looked a little green in the stretch. Brad Cox has stated that this horse has a lot of talent but still has some things to figure out, which might come with experience. We’ll see if he can continue to progress. #7 Blue Kentucky – This one will be stretching out in distance for this race after a third while sprinting last time out. He can compete here if he can carry his early speed at this distance, and his trainer has been known to pull off some upsets in these types of races. #8 Call Me Midnight – We’ll see if this colt can rebound from a poor seventh last time out in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2). He was 48/1 in that spot, so he ran to odds, and he will probably be ignored at the windows again today. #9 Presidential – He was very impressive last time out at Indiana Grand, breaking his maiden by nearly 8 lengths going 1 mile. The speed figure was fairly slow for that race, though, and it’s a big jump from Indiana Grand maiden special weight company to a graded stakes event.
