You’re to Blame Triumphs in G3 Greenwood Cup

BENSALEM, PA – Bortolazzo Stable’s You’re to Blame fired a shot through the hearts of all who bet against him Monday, driving late to upset the 3/5 favorite War Story in the Grade 3, $200,000 Greenwood Cup Stakes at Parx.

Breaking well from post 3 under Paco Lopez at 4/1 odds, You’re to Blame sat just off of War Story’s early lead through fractions of :25.21, :51.12, 1:17.96, and 1:42.67 for the opening mile. Roused as he exited the far turn, You’re to Blame cut to the inside and battled hard down the stretch. Taking command in the final 1/16, the Todd Pletcher trainee inched away late to win the 1 1/2-mile main track marathon by a neck in a final time of 2:32.40.

The rest of the field was strung out far behind the top pair, with Big Dollar Bill crossing in third almost 4 lengths behind. Archanova took fourth by a length over Hard Study, while neither G Zap nor Hawaakom played a factor in the race and completed the order of finish.

You’re to Blame’s win was his second straight following an allowance victory at Saratoga on August 13. The 4-year-old son of Distorted Humor now carries a record of 18-5-3-4 with earnings of $451,715.

You’re to Blame returned $10.40 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.80 to show. War Story brought back $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show, while Big Dollar Bill paid $3.40 to show.
