Ward Duo Averly Jane, Kaufymaker Formidable in Kentucky Juvenile

LOUISVILLE, KY – Hat Creek Racing’s Averly Jane and Gregory Kaufman’s Kaufymaker, daylight winners in their respective 4 1/2-furlong debuts at Keeneland on April 15, head a field of eight 2-year-olds entered for Wednesday’s 27th running of the $150,000 Kentucky Juvenile going 5 furlongs on the main track.

The Kentucky Juvenile will go as the ninth race on Wednesday’s 10-race program with a 4:52 PM (all times Eastern) post time. First post Wednesday is 12:45 PM.

Both fillies are trained by Wesley Ward, who won the Kentucky Juvenile twice previously with fillies Silvertoni in 2016 and Aegean in 2009. Averly Jane opened the April 15 Keeneland program with an 8 3/4-length victory and Kaufymaker followed 2 races later with a 6 1/4-length victory.

Tyler Gaffalione has the mount on Averly Jane and will exit post 4, with Kaufymaker breaking to her inside from post 3 under Martin Pedroza.
