2. Qualifying for the Kentucky Derby would not be difficult for her

I’m with Rick Porter when he says, “I do not like the Kentucky Derby points system.”  I prefer the old style of graded stakes earnings, but that is for another article all together.  However, I don’t think it would be all that difficult for Songbird to earn Kentucky Derby points against the boys.  As of now there aren’t hugely talented colts out in California, and the top projected horses of the crop out west are actually all pointing for races out of town as of now.  In a race like the San Felipe or Santa Anita Derby Songbird would probably be the 1-5 favorite to win the race.
