Tiz the Law “Wires” Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 5

LOUISVILLE, KY – Sackatoga Stable’s Belmont Stakes (G1) champion Tiz the Law took the virtual field gate to wire as the betting favorite throughout in Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) Pool 5, which ran last Friday-Sunday.

Much like his powerful running style, Tiz the Law steadily picked up steam through the weekend, opening at 7/2 but closing as the 2/1 favorite. The Santa Anita Derby (G1) victor Honor A. P. opened at 5/1 but closed slightly behind at 6/1, though he was clearly ahead of the rest of the field, including the “All Other 3-Year-Old Males” option, which ended at 8/1 as the third choice.

Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert represented the next two single betting options, with the Santa Anita Derby runner-up Authentic at 11/1 and the recent maiden winner Uncle Chuck at 13/1. The Japanese-based Cafe Pharoah made one of the few positive moves in the betting tables, opening at 20/1 but closing at 14/1.

Three additional KDFW Pools were announced once the Kentucky Derby (G1) date was postponed to September 5. Pool 6 is scheduled for July 17-19 and Pool 7 will be held August 7-9. An extra Kentucky Oaks Future Wager (KOFW) pool was added to the mix and will run concurrently with Pool 6.
