LOUISVILLE, KY – Fresh off winning the Belmont Stakes (G1), Sackatoga Stable’s Tiz the Law is the 7/2 morning line favorite when Pool 5 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) begins this Friday, June 26, and concludes Sunday, June 28.
Three additional KDFW Pools were announced once the Kentucky Derby (G1) date was postponed to September 5. Pool 6 is scheduled for July 17-19 and Pool 7 will be held August 7-9. An extra Kentucky Oaks Future Wager (KOFW) pool was added to the mix and will run concurrently with Pool 6.
Tiz the Law is no stranger to being atop the KDFW ranks. The 3-year-old Constitution colt closed at odds of 11/1, 8/1, 7/1 and 5/1 in the four prior Pools while running undefeated in 2020. Trainer Barclay Tagg said that he will make one more start before the Derby – in the Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga on August 8.
Expected to contend strongly for second choice is C R K Stable’s Honor A. P. (5/1), the Santa Anita Derby (G1) champion. That race’s second- and third-place finishers are also in Pool 5: Authentic is 8/1 and Rushie is 20/1.
The option “All Other 3-Year-Old Males” is not the morning line favorite for the first time this season, having been made the co-5/1 second choice. Returning to Pool 5 is “All 3-Year-Old Fillies” at 15/1, due in large part to the late Triple Crown nomination of triple graded stakes winner Swiss Skydiver.
