2. The Kentucky Derby – “Here Comes American Pharoah”

Maybe it wasn’t an incredible performance, but if American Pharoah didn’t “gut out” this Kentucky Derby win there never would have been a Triple Crown. He had to dig down deep to beat a solid horse in Firing Line, but was able to do so to give Zayat Stables their first Kentucky Derby victory.
