The Gomper – Why He’s a Horse to Follow This Triple Crown Season

In 2012, a 2-year-old colt by new sire Curlin caught my eye. I researched his background and determined he had a strong potential to be a classic contender at three. I was right. That horse was named Palace Malice and he would go on to be the 2013 Belmont Stakes winner.

This week I have been looking at a horse the Dudes have been talking about named THE GOMPER, owned by Bloom Racing Stable LLC (bloomracing.com). After researching his connections, delving into his pedigree, watching his races and studying his overall background I have come to the conclusion that The Gomper may be a horse to watch in the 3-year-old division this year.

If you haven’t been looking at The Gomper it’s understandable. He’s not a stakes winner and for now he’s just a maiden winner with a quirky name. But a quirky named horse sounds a lot better on a horse after he’s won the Kentucky Derby (i.e. Lil E. Tee or Mine That Bird). Don’t take that as my way of saying The Gomper will be a Derby winner or even a classic winner. That’s a very bold statement for anyone to make in a game with so many potential pitfalls. However, I will go out on record as saying that The Gomper might be a legit race horse and one to keep an eye on this year.
