Tacitus made his 2020 debut at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Saudi Arabia, finishing fifth in the inaugural $20 million Saudi Cup and pocketing $1 million for his efforts. Winner of last year’s Tampa Bay Derby (G2) and Wood Memorial (G2), Tacitus followed those victories with a third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and second in the Belmont Stakes (G1).

Overall, Tacitus has a record of 10-3-3-2 with $2,677,500 earned for Juddmonte Farms and Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, with his lone off-the-board finish coming in his career debut. The 4-year-old son of Tapit does not currently have a next start planned, as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced several circuits to temporarily cease operations.

Tacitus was not the only graded stakes winner to be timed over the Belmont Park grounds on Monday. Skyler’s Scramjet, champion of the 2018 Tom’s Fool Handicap (G3), covered 5 furlongs over the dirt training track in 1:01.81.

The 6-year-old gelded son of Creative Cause has an overall record of 20-5-4-0 with $487,972 earned for trainer Michelle Nevin and co-owners SJB Stable and Marcello Micozzi. He made his 2020 debut in this year’s Tom’s Fool, where he finished last of eight following a seven-month layoff.
