Swing and Sway Easily Wires $125,000 American Beauty

Off sharply from the far outside in the sealed slop under David Cabrera, Swing and Sway was clear early while posting fractions of :22.36 and :46.00. Hitting the top of the stretch, Swing and Sway continued to widen her margin of victory, splashing home first by 7 3/4 lengths in a final time of 1:10.68 for the 6-furlong main track event.

“I worked this filly one time and I thought, ‘This is a really nice filly,'” Cabrera said. “I felt like we could get along really good. We saw that. She broke sharp, she liked it on the front end and she finished very well.”

Summer House was along the rail for much of the race and passed tired foes late to take second by a length over Barbary Hall. Fourth went to the favored Chanteline, with Okie Diva and Scotty’s Model completing the order of finish. Factory of FaithSweet Halory, and Thoughtless were scratched.

Swing and Sway’s win improved her record to 13-4-3-0. The Ron Moquett-trained 4-year-old daughter of MacLean’s Music has now earned $243,040.

Swing and Sway returned $24.60 to win, $8.20 to place, and $4.80 to show. Summer House brought back $6.60 to place and $3.80 to show, while Barbary Hall paid $6 to show.
