Somo’s Six Pack: Week 8 NFL and College Football Picks

Record:

6-Pack – Last week – 2-4 – Overall – 19-17

Honorable Mentions – Last week – 4-3 – Overall – 19-8

Duke vs. Wake Forest (-16.5)

Wake Forest may be the most fun offensive team in the country.  They love to chuck the ball all over the field, play fast, and have solid options at the skill positions on offense.  Both of these team’s defense leave more then a little something to be desired.  Wake’s D is so bad I’ve got no interest in laying that much wood with them.  However, they probably won’t punt in this game so let’s go with the Team Total

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – Wake Forest Team Total Over – 44.5

Virginia vs. BYU (-2.5)

It’s not easy to play at night in BYU, but it’s even tougher to travel across the country and play then at 10:30PM EST.  I had this game closer to BYU -5.5 so there is a ton a value on the Cougars here.  I’d expect both of these teams to put up some points with the crowd eventually effecting Virginia enough to help get a stop and swing the game.

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – BYU -2.5

Tampa Bay (-4.5) vs. New Orleans

This is just an awful match up for New Orleans.  They want to run the rock and throw it short to Kamara and that is the absolute best part of the Tampa Defense.  Conversely, Tampa should be able to move the ball up and down the field through the air on the New Orleans defense.  This would basically lock up the division as well for Tampa so expect a solid effort and lay the points.

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – Tampa Bay -4.5

Washington vs. Denver (-3.5)

First and foremost, please do not watch this game.  It’s not going to be fun at any point (except maybe the final two minutes) and you will want the 4 hours of your life back.  Washington’s D has been terrible this year, but this is the match they want.  Denver can’t push the ball down the field and that’s what Washington can’t stop.  The “Football Team” can score vs blah defenses and that’s a rather accurate description of the Broncos stop unit.

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – Washington +3.5

Carolina vs. Atlanta (-3)

Carolina has entered the full dumpster fire zone.  They are awful.  Atlanta has started to turn the corner and realized why the drafted Kyle Pitts 4th overall.  The Falcons defense has also decided they do know how to stop someone every now and then which is enough to get past this game.  Honestly, I don’t trust the Falcons not to have some shenanigans late so let’s just lay less then a FG in the first half.

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – Falcons -2 1H

Eagles (-3.5) vs. Lions

Oh man, am I really going to do it?  Ugh, I am.  Let’s bet the Lions.  Look, they are not good, but they play hard and share a trait with the Eagles.  The Eagles are also not good.  As odd as this may sounds, this game is circled on the Lions calendar.  There are just a select few spots left for them to get a win and this is a prime chance.

The Bet – $110 to win $100 – Lions +3.5

Let’s throw out a couple of Honorable Mentions this week:

Indiana +5

Pittsburgh (CFB) -9

Bears Over TT 18.5

Chargers -4.5

Steelers TT Over 1H 9.5
