Previewing the Mountain West and the Atlantic-10 Conference Tournaments

Mountain West Tournament Predictions: March 9-12

All games are played in Las Vegas:

Favorites: Boise State 24-7, Colorado State 24-4

Darkhorse: San Diego State 21-7, Wyoming 24-7

Predictions: This is a very underrated league across the country and there is an excellent chance that four teams are going to make the NCAA Tournament. It is hard to pick someone other than one of the top 4 teams to win the conference tournament. Going into this week, Colorado State, Boise State, and San Diego State seem to playing better than Wyoming, which has slipped just a bit. But these teams are so close that anyone can beat the other. Sit back and enjoy this tournament; there will be some classic games. I’m going with strictly a guess here. PAPA DUDES PICK: Boise State

Atlantic-10 Tournament Predictions: March 9-13

All games are played in Washington DC:

Favorites: Davidson 25-5 and Dayton 22-9

Darkhorse: VCU 21-8

Teams on the Bubble: Dayton 22-9, VCU 21-8. I think this league deserves 2 bids into the NCAA Tournament but might only get the conference tournament champion. Davidson would seem like a lock, but it may not be that way. Let’s watch closely and see what the committee thinks about this one.

Predictions: This is another tournament that is anything but a cinch. Davidson won the regular season but were involved in a bunch of close wins and one could argue they aren’t playing that well. Both Dayton and VCU finished the regular season strong and are legitimate threats to pull off a win. And St.Bonaventure and St.Louis deserve a look as well. PAPA DUDES PICK: Dayton
