Previewing the MAC and Ivy League Tournaments

MAC Tournament Predictions: March 10-12

All games are played in Cleveland:

Credit: Mid-American Conference

Favorite: Toledo 25-6

Darkhorse: Kent State 21-9, Ohio 23-8, Akron 21-9, Buffalo 19-10

Predictions: This is another league that, more than likely, is only going to get one team in the Big Dance. There are 4 teams that won over 20 games and the league deserves more than the one bid. Toledo won the regular season title with a 17-3 record. Kent State might have been the hottest team down the stretch and finished strong finishing second with a 16-4 mark. Ohio finished the season losing four out of their last five and that doesn’t bode well coming into the tournament. And, don’t forget Akron or Buffalo as teams that could pull off upsets and mess everything up. The tournament winner is going to have to play well and will be very deserving. PAPA DUDES PICK: Toledo

Ivy League Tournament Predictions: March 12-13

All games are played in Cambridge, MA:

Favorite: Princeton 22-5

Darkhorse: Yale 17-10, Cornell 15-10, Penn 12-15

Tournament Schedule:

Saturday March 12th:

Game 1: #4 Cornell vs. #1 Princeton

Game 2: #3 Penn vs. #2 Yale

Sunday March 13th:

Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2

Predictions: Only 4 teams qualify for the Ivy League tournament and Princeton is the overwhelming favorite. But, Yale is a threat and the two teams split the two games in the regular season, each winning in the other’s home building. Barring an upset they will play a third game on Sunday and the winner will be in the Big Dance. . PAPA DUDES PICK: Princeton
