Papa Dudes Best Bets for College and the NFL 10/9,10/10

This week was a little harder than usual for me as most of the lines from Vegas were pretty much dead on. But, I found 5 that I liked good enough to make some wagers on. I’m coming off a solid week as I hit my LOCK OF THE WEEK for the 5th straight time. Unfortunately, my UPSET SPECIAL didn’t come through for the first time this season. Let’s see what we like the best for this week.

Saturday’s Best Bets:

Georgia at Auburn: I know, I know I have bragged on Georgia all week as a super team and I believe that. But, this game against the Tigers will be on the road and they will be ready. I thought Arkansas was a little better than they turned out to be as Georgia rolled them in Athens. Auburn is a different animal and are used to playing these kinds of games. Their defense should be able to control the Bulldogs enough to hold the score down to the low twenties if they don’t turn it over and give Georgia cheap points. If Auburn quarterback, Bo Nix can play mistake-free, and hit a big pass or two, I think they can score 10-14 points. I’m still not sold on the Georgia offense and while I think they will win, I’m betting on Auburn to beat the spread.

PAPA DUDES PICK: Auburn +15.5

Virginia at Louisville: The Cardinals have been playing well this year and have a home game against a decent Virginia team. If they can recover from a tough 37-34 loss at Wake Forest last week, I think they should be able to cover the 2.5 points against the Cavaliers.

PAPA DUDES PICK: Louisville -2.5

Notre Dame at Virginia Tech: The Irish come into this one at 4-1 and are coming off of a tough loss at home to Cincinnati. They are usually a good bounce back team. The Hokies have sputtered on offense but have found a way to go 3-1. They have had two weeks to get ready for Notre Dame and this will be a big game for them and their crazy crowd. I think the Irish bounce back.

PAPA DUDES PICK: Notre Dame -1

Michigan at Nebraska: The Wolverines come into Lincoln riding high with an unblemished 5-0 record. They are playing well and are back to being contenders in the Big10. Their defense has controlled every game that they have been in to this point. On the other hand, the Cornhuskers have bounced back since an embarrassing loss at Illinois to open the season. They won a couple of easy non-conference games and played lost at unbeaten Oklahoma 23-16 and at unbeaten Michigan State 23-20 in overtime. Last week, they demolished Northwestern 56-7. Arguably, this is the biggest game played in Lincoln in quite a few years and is huge is getting some credibility back to the Nebraska program. I’m taking a chance and picking the Huskers to upset Michigan.

PAPA DUDES *UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK* Nebraska +3.5

TWO OTHERS I CONSIDERED:

Boise State at BYU -5.5: The Cougars should handle the Broncos in Provo and cover this.

Utah at USC -2.5 : If the real USC shows up they should win by more than 2.5.Can they cover the spread? La Tech +18

i: I like the Tigers to cover this one easy. Take Missouri -3

Sunday’s Best Bets:

Philadelphia at Carolina -3.5: The Panthers invaded Texas last week and gave a good account of themselves against Dallas. Now they return home and take on another NFC East team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Sam Darnold has been playing the best ball of his career and the Panthers are 3-1 and riding high. They can’t overlook the Eagles, led by quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who is the Philly offense. The Eagles are 1-3 and their defense has been bad the last two weeks. I’m looking at the Panthers to go to 4-1 and cover the spread.

PAPA DUDES *LOCK OF THE WEEK* Carolina -3.5
