Free Pick: Tennessee (6-2) at LA Rams (7-1) 11/7/21

This game has lost a lot of luster with the injury of Titans’ running back, Derrick Henry. The Rams are rolling and playing extremely well and they are establishing themselves as a Super Bowl contender. Tennessee was starting to play their way into the favorite role as the AFC team in the Super Bowl. But all of that has been put on hold with Henry’s injury. Let’s look at the betting angles.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Tennessee: 22.5 Total Team Points It is so hard to judge what the loss of Henry will do to the Titan offense. A lot more will be expected of Ryan Tannehill and the question becomes, is he good enough to handle it? The Tennessee running back situation is questionable with Jeremy McNichol and newly signed Adrian Peterson splitting the carries. So, how do you bet this angle? Tennessee has averaged 28 points per game and the Rams are giving up 21 per game. The Rams traded for Von Miller which should strengthen their defense. All signs point to Tennessee UNDER 22.5 total team points.

Los Angeles: 30.5 Total Team Points This is a high point total, no matter who you are playing. I expect the Titans defense to be inspired, and accept the challenge that they have to play lights out, to help make up for the loss of Henry. Not only that, the Rams have scored over 31 in only four games this season and two of those were against the Giants and the Texans. I like the Rams UNDER 30.5 total team points.

OVER/UNDER 53.5 Total Combined Team Points The two teams are averaging 59 combined points per game. So, how much does the Henry injury affect this line? It stands to reason that is going to hurt what the Titans like to do. The Rams might benefit from the injury and blow the Titans out, which would cause them to run clock late in the game and take their foot off the gas. I like the UNDER on combined team points.

POINT SPREAD: Los Angeles -8 There is no doubt that this line is inflated because of the injury. It would probably be four or five points otherwise. How quickly can the Titans adjust to Henry’s absence and will the Rams letdown thinking it will be easier without him in the lineup.
