This is the toughest game left on the Notre Dame schedule and it is a tricky one. The Cavaliers are decent and have had two weeks to get ready for this one. They are potent on offense and should be able to score enough to keep the pressure on the Irish. Let’s see what we can find to bet.

Notre Dame: 35.5 Total Team Points Notre Dame has scored over this point total only twice in nine games. However, the Virginia defense has been torched for 106 point in the last two games combined. They also gave up 59 against North Carolina and 37 to Wake Forest earlier. So, it is entirely feasible to assume the Irish are going to score. Look for Notre Dame OVER 35.5 total team points.

Virginia: 28.5 Total Team Points The Cavaliers are averaging 39 points per contest this year. They have scored over 30 points in all but one of the nine games they have played. Notre Dame will be the best defense they have faced by far, but the Irish have given up a lot of yards through the air and that is what Virginia does best. Virginia should go OVER 28.5 Total Team Points

OVER/UNDER: 64 Combined Team Points Both of these teams can put up points. Notre Dame is averaging 33 and Virginia is even more potent, scoring 39 points per game. The Cavaliers are putting up 545 total yards per game and quarterback, Brennan Armstrong is throwing for 395 passing yards for the nine games. He has to be one of the best players no one has ever heard of. Also, neither team is particularly great on defense. Notre Dame is a little better than Virginia on the defensive side of the ball, but they have given up 38 points to Florida State, 32 against Toledo, 29 at Virginia Tech, and 34 against North Carolina. Virginia has given up over 28 points in 6 of their nine games. This has shootout written all over it. I like OVER 64 combined team points.

POINT SPREAD: Notre Dame is a 5.5-point favorite This is a very tricky game for Notre Dame. It is easily their toughest test left on the schedule and Virginia will score points. The Cavaliers are capable of a huge upset in this one and Vegas sees it the same way as the point spread is on the low side. I like Notre Dame to cover, but just barely.
