Free Pick: New York Giants 4-8 at LA Chargers 7-5 12/12/21

This should be an easy win for the Chargers, but nothing is easy for the Chargers. It’s a must win if they are going to make the playoffs, as the AFC West division winner, or a wild card participant. New York is playing out the string on what has been another disappointing season. The game is in Los Angeles and there really is no reason why the Chargers can’t put this in the victory column. Let’s check the lines.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Giants: 16.5 Total Team Points The Giants are averaging 18 points and 312 total yards per game. In the last three games, they have scored 10,13,and 9 points. The Chargers aren’t overwhelming on defense and they have given up a lot of yards on the ground. However, the Giants are averaging only 91 yards per game rushing. Seventeen points is a very low score to reach. I’ll take New York OVER 16.5 team points.

Chargers: 27.5 Total Team Points The Chargers are scoring enough points (26 per game), to be better than 7-5. However, they have had some clunkers, (6 points at Baltimore, 20 against Minnesota, and 13 at Denver). They are quite capable of throwing in another crappy performance. They have one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, Justin Herbert ,and some first-class offensive weapons around him. But……they are the Chargers. I like Los Angeles UNDER 27.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 44.5 Combined Team Points I like the Chargers to win this one 24-17 or in that range. I will take UNDER 44.5 combined points.

POINT SPREAD: Los Angeles is a 10.5-point favorite As we have said throughout this analysis of the game, this should be an easy win for Los Angeles. They desperately need this win and the Giants have to come all the way across the country to play a game that means very little to them. I still don’t think they cover.
