Free Pick: Mississippi (9-2) at Mississippi State (7-4) 11/25/21

This is always a great game and this year promises to be one of the best. Both teams are having very good seasons and Mississippi State is a couple of plays away from being 9-2 also. It features two really good quarterbacks, two exciting offenses, and two of the most colorful coaches in college football. So, after the Thanksgiving dinner is over, get in your favorite chair and enjoy this classic known as the Egg Bowl. Let’s look at the lines.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Mississippi: 30.5 Total Team Points The Rebels offense has not been scoring points like it was earlier in the year. In a little known fact, they have scored 31 or less points in every SEC game but one. They still are piling up yards, and quarterback Matt Corral has accounted for almost 4000 yards with his arm and his legs. They are going up against a Bulldog defense that has been tough against the run, and play better defense than most Mike Leach coached teams. But, I have trouble thinking that Mississippi won’t score points in this one. I’ll take Mississippi OVER 30.5 total points.

Mississippi State: 30.5 Total Team Points As usual, Leach has a quarterback who has fantastic stats and is relatively unknown. Quarterback, Will Rogers, has completed 435 out of 572 passes (76%) for 4113 yards and 34 touchdowns. And he is just a sophomore. They have some problems running the ball, but it doesn’t seem to matter. The Ole Miss defense is giving up 430 total yards per game and they are better than they were a year ago. I would take Mississippi State OVER 30.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 62 Total Combined Team Points I took the over on both teams total points so there is really no discussion here. I’ll take the OVER 62 total combined team points.

POINT SPREAD: Mississippi State is a 1-point favorite Easy line when the spread is so low. Take the team you think will win and hope they do. The game will come down to who wins the turnover battle and which defense plays the best.
