Free Pick: LA Chargers 6-5 at Cincinnati 7-4 12/5/21

This matchup features two teams that are unpredictable to bet. Everytime I get on their bandwagon, they lay an egg and beat my butt (especially the Chargers). The Bengals have played their way into a good shot at winning the AFC North, or, at least grab a wild card spot. A win here would really give them a boost. The Chargers are in a must-win situation. To keep up with the Chiefs in the AFC West, they need a win, and ,to stay in the wild card hunt, a victory over the Bengals would give them the tiebreaker in case they finish knotted up at the end of the season. Let’s see what Vegas thinks.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Chargers: 24.5 Total Team Points The Chargers offense have scored over 25 points in 5 of the 11 games they have played. The Bengals have allowed over 25 point in only 3 games. The interesting matchup to watch is how well the Chargers can pass the ball,(they are averaging 281 yards per game), against the Bengals pass defense, which is giving up 255 yards per game. If the Bengals can slow that down some, they should have success. I’ll take the Chargers UNDER 24.5 team points.

Cincinnati: 26.5 Total Team Points The Bengals are averaging 28 points per game and going up against a Charger defense that is allowing 27. They scored 41 last week against the Steelers and earlier in the year they did the same against the Ravens. So they are capable of putting up points. I like Cincinnati OVER 26.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 50.5 Combined Team Points This is another line that Vegas has set just about right. If forced to choose, I will take OVER 50.5 combined points.

POINT SPREAD: Cincinnati is a 3-point favorite I’m putting my faith on the Bengals in this game. This is a big opportunity for them to show that they are a team to be taken seriously. Am I concerned that they can take that next step? Hell yes, I am. But they are better than the Chargers and I’m going to lay my faith on them. I’m going Cincinnati -3 and to cover.
