Free Pick: Kansas City (3-3) at Tennessee (4-2) 10/24/21

This is a game two of the best teams in the AFC that haven’t played up to their high expectations. No one thought the Chiefs would be 3-3 at this point, but they are. The good news is they have plenty of time to get things headed in the right direction. Tennessee took strides on Monday night with a big win over the Buffalo Bills. This should be a great game and let’s take a look at the betting matchups.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Kansas City 30.5 Team Points: Everyone knows about Patrick Mahomes and the potent Chiefs offense. They are averaging 31 points per game which is what they will need in order to cash this bet. They have been turnover prone so far in the six games and Mahomes has thrown 8 interceptions. It is hard to score points when you don’t have the ball. They have scored at least 31 points in 4 of their six games so they are obviously capable of reaching the needed total. Tennessee is giving up 27 points per game and allowed 27 points against the lowly Jets who went to to beat them for their only victory of the season. It is not a stretch to think Kansas City can score a lot of points in this one.

Tennessee 26.5 Team Points: The Titans have a great running back in Derrick Henry and they will try and run the ball, eat clock, and play keep away from the potent Kansas City offense. They are scoring 28 points per game and put 34 on the board last week against a good Buffalo defense. Quarterback, Ryan Tannehill needs to compliment Henry and make plays in the passing game. The Kansas City defense showed some signs of improvement last week in holding Washington to 13 points. But, was it the defense, or the Washington offense.? The Chiefs run defense is suspect, so the Titans should have success running the ball.

OVER/UNDER TEAM TOTALS:

The Over/Under for this game is 57 combined team points. The two teams are averaging a combined 59 points per game. Neither defense is great and this looks like a game where points are going to be scored. The Chiefs have exceeded that combined point total in 4 of their 6 games, so they are used to high-scoring games. Meanwhile, the Titans have reached the combined total in 3 of their games.

POINT SPREAD:

The Chiefs invade Nashville as a 5.5-point favorite. This is a big game for them as they are trying to climb back up the division standings. The Titans are coming off a huge Monday Night win over a really good Buffalo team and it will be hard to knock off two good teams in a row. If they can get this one, they will have a firm grip on their division.
