Free Pick: Baylor (4-0) at Oklahoma State (4-0) 10/2/21

This Big-12 matchup features two undefeated teams meeting in Stillwater with the winner getting an early leg-up for the championship game at the end of the season. Each team is 4-0 and this should be a good one.

Scouting Baylor:

Quarterback: Gerry Bohanon has taken over the quarterback role and has completed 72% of his passes for 823 yards with 7 touchdowns and no interceptions. He has also rushed for an additional 112 yards and has been turnover free.

Running Backs: The Bears have rushed 1094 yards and are led Abram Smith and Trestan Ebner who have combined 761 yards and are both averaging over 7 yards per carry. Baylor is averaging 275 yards per game on the ground.

Receivers: Wide receivers, R.J. Sneed and Tyquan Thornton are a threat to take it to the house at any time and have combined for 34 receptions totalling 541 yards and resulting in 4 touchdowns.

Defense: The Baylor defense has been ok but will have to step it up this week in Stillwater. They have given up about 300 total yards per game but considering the competition they have played, that isn’t very good. Iowa State gashed them for 479 yards last week and somehow lost the game. They are led by Dillon Doyle (24 tackles), Jalen Pitre (23 tackles) and Terrel Bernard (21 tackles).

Scouting Oklahoma State:

Quarterback: Spencer Sanders has thrown for 599 yards and 4 touchdowns and is a threat to run as he has gained 154 yards on the ground. He has been inconsistent but he is capable of having a big game.

Running Backs: Jaylen Warren has been the leading rusher with 408 yards and has scored 4 touchdowns and the Cowboys will try and establish the run.

Wide Receivers: Tay Martin and Brennan Presley are the leading receivers with 26 catches for 385 yards. The Cowboys aren’t throwing the ball as much as usual this year but these two are a threat.

Defense: For the first time in years, the defense is carrying the team in the early season. They have been especially stingy against the run holding opponents to 87 rushing yards per game. Malcolm Rodriguez leads the way with 43 tackles and he has support from Kolby Harwell-Peel (26 tackles) and Devin Harper (22)

Baylor comes into this one with 4 straight victories with their best win coming against Iowa State last week,in a game where they lost in every important statistical category. However, the only category that matters is the final score and they were on top of that one. Oklahoma State has also gone 4-0 with three of the victories going down to the wire. They are winning games in a different way this year and haven’t been very flashy but the results have been outstanding. They are a 3.5 point favorite against the Bears.
