Free Pick: Alabama (10-1) at Auburn (6-5) 11/27/21

The Iron Bowl is one of the fiercest rivalries in college football. Alabama leads the series 47-37-1 against the Tigers. Auburn has had as much success as anyone against Nick Saban, as they have won 5 out of 14 games. I’m trying to build a case for the them in this game, but without starting quarterback, Bo Nix, I just can’t see one. Nevertheless, this is a rivalry game, and strange things happen in this game. Let’s find something to bet.

TEAM TOTALS:

Alabama: 37.5 Total Team Points Alabama is averaging 44 points per game and quarterback, Bryce Young, is coming off another monstrous performance, throwing for 559 yards against Arkansas. The Auburn defense will have to play the game of the season to slow down the Tide. Statistically, they are capable, but they melted down a couple of weeks ago against Mississippi State. On top of that, their offense is going to struggle to move the ball without Nix, giving Alabama more possessions. I’ll take Alabama over 37.5 total points.

Auburn: 17.5 Total Team Points This total would probably be higher, but Auburn is going into the game with inexperience at the important quarterback position. They only scored 17 points at South Carolina last week and are coming into this game on a 3-game losing streak. Everyone thinks that Alabama is down on defense, but when you look closer at the stats, they are holding teams to 86 rushing yards per game and only 306 total yards. I’ll take Auburn UNDER 17.5 total points.

OVER/UNDER: 55.5 Combined Team Points I can see this game getting out of hand, if Auburn can’t find some offensive success. In order to reach 56 points, Alabama might have to score 41 points or more. I don’t like the line at all; but I would lean towards taking the UNDER.

POINT SPREAD: Alabama is a 19.5-point favorite. From all indications, all logic, and all statistics, this shouldn’t be a game. The Crimson Tide are better, healthier, and more talented than the Tigers. They should cover this line, right?
