Free NFL Pick: San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers 1/22/22

NFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF: 7:15 Saturday 1/22/22

This matchup features No.1 seed, Tennessee, against the No.4, Cincinnati Bengals in what should be a competitive game. The Titans appear to be getting the services of Derrick Henry back for this game and that should provide a huge boost for them. How well-conditioned, and how many snaps he will be able to play, are still huge question marks. Cincinnati is riding high after winning their first playoff game in 31 years last week. They are a talented, young team and ar quite capable of pulling off an upset in Nashville.

WHO HAS THE EDGE:

  • Quarterback:
  • San Francisco: Jimmy Garoppolo 67% Completion Rate, 3,982 yards, 20 Touchdowns, 13 Interceptions
  • Green Bay: Aaron Rodgers 69% Completion Rate, 4,115 yards, 37 Touchdowns, 4 Interceptions
  • NO QUESTION THE EDGE GOES TO GREEN BAY
  • Running Back:
  • San Francisco: Elijah Mitchell 1,059 yards, 4.6yds. per carry, 6 touchdowns
  • Green Bay: A.J. Dillon and Aaron Brown (Combined 1,602 yards, 4,5 yds. per carry and 9 touchdowns only played in 8 games)
  • BECAUSE OF THE ABILITY TO CATCH THE BALL OUT OF THE BACKFIELD THE EDGE GOES TO GREEN BAY
  • Receivers:
  • San Francisco: Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle (211 catches for 3,212 yards and 18 touchdowns).
  • Green Bay: Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, and Josiah Deguara, (188 catches for 2,371 yards and 18 touchdowns).
  • 49ERS HAVE THE OVERALL ADVANTAGE BUT ADAMS IS SPECIAL
  • Offensive Line:
  • San Francisco: 127 yards rushing per game, allowed 33 sacks
  • Green Bay: 112 yards rushing per game, allowed 33 sacks
  • ADVANTAGE TO NEITHER
  • Defense:
  • San Francisco: Allowed 22 points and 311 total yards per game. Had 48 sacks and 9 interceptions. Held opponents under 20 points seven times.
  • Green Bay: Allowed 22 points and 328 total yards per game. Had 39 sacks and 18 interceptions. Held opponents under 20 points five times.
  • SLIGHT ADVANTAGE TO GREEN BAY

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

San Francisco 21 Total Team Points The 49ers are averaging 23 points per game and Garoppolo has been playing well in the 2nd half of the season. They are running the ball effectively and are getting excellent production out of a solid receiving corps. The Green bay defense played very well early in the season, but gave up a lot of points down the stretch. I’m taking San Francisco OVER 21 Total Team Points

Green Bay 26.5 Total Team Points Everyone knows that Aaron Rodgers has been excellent all year long. The fact that he has only thrown four interceptions is a remarkable stat. They have 2 excellent running backs in, A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones, who are dangerous running the ball and catching it as well. Deep-threat, Davante Adams is a dangerous target and Rodgers goes to him often. The Niners defensive front is one of the best at getting to opposing quarterbacks, but the leader, Nick Bosa, is questionable because of a concussion injury sustained on Sunday. If he doesn’t play that is a huge advantage for Green Bay. I like Green Bay slightly UNDER 26.5 points.

OVER/UNDER 47.5 Total Combined Team Points Tough line to bet on. It is right where it should be. No bet for me.

POINT SPREAD: Green Bay is a 6-point favorite The story of this one is a tough, gritty 49ers team heading into Lambeau Field, with a quarterback who is somewhat suspect, compared with Aaron Rodgers. Can San Francisco get the same amount of pressure on Rodgers that they did on Prescott? Furthermore, will Nick Bosa be able to play? If the answer turns out to be no on both of those questions the Packers win easily.

Aaron’s Pick: Green Bay -6

Papa Dudes Pick: San Francisco OVER 21 total team points
