Free NCAA College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Parlays for the Elite 8 West and South Regional Finals 3/26/22

We are down to the Elite Eight on Saturday as the West and South Region will produce the first two Final four participants. This has truly been March Madness and who knows what we have in store for us today. St. Peter’s has shown us that anything is possible in this crazy action-filled tournament. Let’s analyze the two games and try and make some logical choices, although logic hasn’t been working very well.

Late last night we cashed our Best Bet, as #10 Miami knocked off #11 Iowa State 70-56, to advance to the Elite 8 for the first time in their history. That raised our Best Bet of the Day record to 59-34 since Jan.1st.

We went 2-2 betting the MoneyLine and that leaves us with a record of 671-153 (81%) in 2022.

There were 4 games involving Top-25 teams and we went 2-2 betting the spread making some money on the Kansas-Providence game. Our record betting the spread is now 143-101.

Let’s check out these two regional finals today and see if we can get them both right.

#5 Houston 32-5 (-2.5) vs. #2 Villanova 29-7 in San Antonio: In the first game of the day, we have a matchup worthy of a national championship game. Too bad, the selection committee seeded both of them too low, and and they are meeting up in the Elite 8. That means one of the best teams in the country is not going to make it to the Final Four. Houston has become the favorite to win it all with their aggressive defense and ferocious rebounding. Their last two wins over #4 Illinois and #1 Arizona have been dominant and eye-opening. They are my team, but they might be up against the one team that won’t be intimidated by their style of play. Villanova is just as tough as they are and play the same type of game. They played in the rugged Big East and are as steady as they come. The big stage, the setting in San Antonio where the Cougars will have the home crowd, the pressure; none of that will bother them. I picked the Wildcats to win it all, so I have to stick with them, but I’m rooting my ass off for the Cougars. PAPA DUDES PICK: Villanova +2.5

7:49 PM- TBS

#4 Arkansas 28-8 vs. #2 Duke 31-6 (-4) in San Francisco: There are just some things that make no sense to me. How come the Razorbacks aren’t getting any respect for knocking off overall top-seeded Gonzaga? I mean Houston is now favored to win it all after their win over Arizona, but Arkansas is now a 4-point dog against Duke in this Regional final, despite beating the Zags. The Hogs are tenacious on defense and just keep coming at you. They present matchup problems and if they can hit some shots they are a handful for anyone. They are going to give Duke problems. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils are playing their best basketball at the right time and, of course, they are a team no one wants to play in this tournament. Their tradition, their prolific offense, and experience makes them a very tough bunch to eliminate. I still think Duke is soft on defense and if Arkansas can shoot a good percentage, I think they will out-tough them. PAPA BEST BET: Arkansas +4
