Free NCAA College Basketball Picks, Best Bets, and Parlays For 3/11/22

These tournament games are brutal and it is tedious sweating out the ones you have money on. By 2:30 yesterday afternoon, I was already exhausted from watching my teams win or lose in very close games. Today promises more excitement.

We totally bombed out on our Best Bet as South Carolina got demolished by Mississippi State. That lowered our Best Bet of the Day record to 49-32 since January 1st.

We bet on 20 games and finished a very good 18-2 betting the MoneyLine. Our record now stands at 627-134 (82%) for 2022.

There were 14 games involving Top-25 teams and we went 12-2 picking winners and 9-5 betting the spreads. Our record betting the spread on games involving Top-25 teams is 105-75.

Today and tonight there are 17 games involving Top-25 teams and there will be plenty of great games to watch and enjoy. Let’s get after it and hope the last shot is made by our team.

Papa Dudes Best Bet for College Basketball Today

Ohio 24-8 at Kent State 22-9 (-2): This is a toss-up game between two good teams in a league that deserves more than one team getting an invite to the Big Dance. The Bobcats have been struggling just a bit down the stretch, but they still are a handful for anyone. Meanwhile, Kent State has won 13 in a row and are playing as well as anyone in the MAC. I’m a law of average bettor and that says go with Ohio because the Golden Flashes are due for a loss. But, I’m going against the trend. PAPA DUDES BEST BET: Kent State -2

GAMES INVOLVING TOP-25 TEAMS:

Indiana 19-12 at #16 Illinois 22-8 (-5): Indiana made a great 2nd half comeback yesterday to beat Michigan, and they will have plenty of momentum coming into this game. We are seeing teams playing their first game in the tournament, going up against a team that has played a game, really struggling. This is the Big Ten and anyone can beat anyone. I like Illinois to eke this one out and cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Illinois -5

#24 Iowa 23-8 (-6.5) at Rutgers 18-12: Iowa was on fire yesterday against Northwestern and if they keep shooting like that, they will win this tournament. Rutgers has more on the line and need a win to fell safely in the tournament. Over the past three weeks, the Hawkeyes have been the best team in the conference. I like them to win this one and cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Iowa -6.5

Michigan State 21-11 vs. Wisconsin 24-6 (-1.5): The Spartans won a close one over Maryland yesterday 76-72. They are very inconsistent and have been a disappointment. They have the talent to win this game but I’m sticking with the Badgers. PAPA DUDES PICK: Wisconsin -1.5

Penn State 14-16 at #9 Purdue 25-6 (-8.5): The Nittany Lions upset the highly overrated Buckeyes last night to make it to this game. Purdue is far superior to them but they have a tendency to struggle at times. Still, I have to go with logic in this one and go with the Boilermakers to cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Purdue -8.5

Miami 23-9 vs. #7 Duke 27-5 (-9): The Blue Devils survived a huge challenge from Syracuse to move on to the this game. Miami barely held off a determined Boston College squad as well. I think the Canes hang around into the 2nd half before Duke goes on a run and wins late. PAPA DUDES PICK: Miami +9

Virginia Tech 21-12 vs. North Carolina 24-8 (-2): If Virginia Tech wins are they in the Big Dance? They would be 22-12 and playing their best ball of the season. However, this won’t be easy defeating a North Carolina team that is on a roll. I like the small spread and I like the Tar Heels in this one. PAPA DUDES PICK: North Carolina -2

Cincinnati 18-14 vs. #18 Houston 26-5 (-12): Houston defeated Cincinnati twice in the regular season without much trouble. If they are playing up to par they should have a fairly easy time against the Bearcats.i PAPA DUDES PICK: Houston -12

Oklahoma 18-14 vs. #14 Texas Tech (-7.5): For an 18-14 team, the Sooners are getting a lot of respect. It’s simple for them; they have to shoot a good percentage and if they do they can win. On the flip side, it can get ugly if they don’t. The two teams won on the other’s home court and the series will be settled in KC tonight. Tech is a very good team that will bring the defense right at OU. I think the Raiders win, but Oklahoma is playing for a possible tournament bid and should keep this close. PAPA DUDES PICK: Oklahoma +7.5

TCU 20-11 at #6 Kansas 26-6 (-8): In this semifinal game the Jayhawks will have home court advantage in Kansas City. The Horned Frogs are riding the momentum from a great comeback victory over Texas yesterday. The two teams played back-to-back games a few days ago with each team winning on the other’s home floor. This line might be a dab too high and I’m going to take a shot on TCU to keep it closer than the spread. PAPA DUDES PICK: TCU +8

#21 UConn 23-8 vs. #11 Villanova 24-7 (-3): Villanova has been playing well down the stretch and survived a huge scare from St.John’s last night. Meanwhile, the Huskies didn’t have much trouble dispatching Seton Hall in the nightcap. There is very little to choose from between the two teams and a case can be made for either one. I’m going with Villanova. PAPA DUDES PICK: Villanova -3

Creighton 21-10 at #11 Providence 25-4 (-3): The Friars play everyone close and this one probably won’t be any different. Creighton has played their way into the NCAA tournament in the past few weeks and will be a tough out. I like Providence and I like them to eke out another win. PAPA DUDES PICK: Providence -3

Colorado 21-10 vs. #2 Arizona 29-3 (-9.5): Colorado needs a win to have a shot at an NCAA tournament bid. They whipped the Wildcats a couple of weeks ago in Boulder and that should give them some confidence. Arizona was damn lucky to beat a very average Stanford team yesterday and will be looking to bounce back with a better effort today. I’m picking Arizona to win but fail to cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Colorado +9.5

Texas A&M 21-11 vs. #4 Auburn 27-4 (-9.5): The Aggies are coming off an overtime thriller yesterday and a win in this one would probably get them in the Big Dance. Auburn is better than they are and should win, but favored teams are really struggling in these opening games. I think the Tigers move on but that is a big spread.. PAPA DUDES PICK: Texas A&M +9.5

LSU 22-10 vs. #15 Arkansas 24-7 (-2): A little over a week ago, LSU lost a tough one by one point to the Razorbacks, in Fayetteville. If they can duplicate that performance they can pull off an upset. The Tigers have recovered from a slump and are playing very well. Arkansas has been playing as well as anyone and ended the season on a 14-2 run. I’ve been singing the praises of the Razorbacks all year and I’m not backing down now, but I’m putting them on upset alert. PAPA DUDES PICK: Arkansas -2

Mississippi State 18-14 vs. #9 Tennessee 23-7 (-6.5): Vegas likes the Bulldogs way more than I do, but they proved me wrong yesterday. I like Tennessee in this one and I think they will cover this pretty easy. PAPA DUDES PICK: Tennessee -6.5

Vanderbilt 17-15 vs. #5 Kentucky 25-6 (-11.5): The Commodores have two big wins under their belt and they have momentum after knocking off Alabama last night. Meanwhile, Kentucky has been sitting around and watching. The trend has been the team playing their first game is really struggling to win. I like Vanderbilt to play Kentucky close before losing at the end. PAPA DUDES PICK: Vanderbilt +11.5

#21 USC 26-6 vs. #13 UCLA 24-6 (-6): Game #3 between these two bitter rivals. Each won on the other’s home floor and this one will be settled in Vegas tonight. Both teams are safely in the NCAA tournament and this one is for seeding and bragging rights. It should be close and go down to the wire. I think UCLA will win but fail to cover 6.
