Free NCAA College Basketball Picks, Best Bets, and Parlays For 2/13/22

It was somewhat of a mixed bag yesterday, as the early games were not going my way. But we closed fast, and managed to end up with a reasonably good day, on what I call Survival Saturday betting college basketball. It’s been a week that has seen only nine Top-25 teams make it through without a loss. These last remaining games are so critical as the March Madness is coming up before we know it.

The discouraging thing about yesterday’s betting were our Best Bet. I had good feelings on Michigan and TCU, but both flamed out, especially the Frogs. Notre Dame was able to beat Clemson and that saved the day. The 1-2 day lowered our Best Bet of the Day record to 33-22.

After a bad night on Friday, our MoneyLine bets bounced back as we went 25-6 for the day. Our record now stands at 386-89 (81%) for 2022.

In the Dudes newest feature we went 10-8 betting the spread on games involving Top-25 teams, and we are 35-25 in a category where if you are on the plus side you are doing well.

And finally, to make the day worthwhile, our 3-team parlay returned $80 on a $10 bet, which was the highlight of my day.

As usual the Sunday schedule is pretty light, but there are some good games to check out. Let’s see if we can close out the week on a high note.

Papa Dudes Best Bet for College Basketball Today

Northern Iowa 14-9 at Loyola Chicago 18-5 (-8): Northern Iowa lost 7 of their first 11 games and since have gone 10-2. Thus, they are one of the hottest teams in the Missouri Valley. They currently sit atop the standings and come into Chicago on a 5-game winning streak. They will be ready to play this one. But, the Ramblers have a way of rising to the occasion, and as my fellow partner Aaron likes to say, they are the Champs and someone has to knock them out to take their crown. Having said that, I like the Panther’s chances of beating the spread. PAPA DUDES BEST BET: Northern Iowa +8

GAMES INVOLVING TOP-25 TEAMS:

#24 UConn 16-7 (-3.5) at St.John’s 13-10: This is a tough and very dangerous game for the Huskies. They have lost three out of their last four and are coming off a discouraging loss to Marquette. A couple of weeks ago they were a lock for the tournament, and while they are still in decent shape, a loss to the Johnnies would be a blow. St.John’s is capable of a winning this game, especially at home, and they are coming off a solid effort in a 75-69 loss to Villanova. Reluctantly, I’m sticking with UConn. PAPA DUDES PICK: UConn -3.5

Maryland 11-13 at #3 Purdue 21-4 (-15.5): This one won’t take long to analyze. Maryland is bad and sinking fast into the sunset, and the Boilermakers are going to be very angry after falling apart at Michigan on Thursday. It’s just a matter of whether Purdue can cover that large of a point spread. I’m going to pick Purdue to cover, but I would find something else to bet, that line might be too much. PAPA DUDES PICK: Purdue -15.5

Northwestern 12-10 at #13 Illinois 17-6 (-10): Northwestern is another one of those dangerous teams that cause opposing teams fits. They very seldom get blown out and played Illinois down to the wire before losing 59-56 a couple of weeks ago. They have won three in a row including a win over a red-hot Rutgers team. Meanwhile, the Illini are smarting from an 84-68 beatdown at Purdue earlier in the week. They will be out to get back on track. But, I’m thinking that line is a little too much to cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Northwestern +10

PARLAY: Today is one of those days when there just isn’t anything I can form together that makes much sense to bet on. So, I’m passing on a parlay for today.
