We are heading down the backstretch and games are taking on added significance with concern for making the NCAA tournament. Let’s see how the DUDES rank the teams still in the running. We are going conference by conference starting with majors.

ALMOST A LOCK: There are 8 teams that need a little more padding to the resume, but look safe as of now.
Iowa State- 16-9 The Cyclones are only 3-9 in the Big 12.
North Carolina- 18-7 The Tar Heels will get in if they get to 20 wins.
Miami- 18-7 Big win at Wake Forest last Saturday
Seton Hall- 15-8 The Hall has a little work left to do.
Indiana- 16-8 The Hoosiers are starting to fade. They need some wins this week.
Oregon- 16-8 The Ducks need to stop losing to terrible teams like California. .
Davidson- 20-4 They were a lock last week but they are struggling down the stretch
Murray State- 24-2 It will be hard to overlook the Racers if they keep winning.
FIGHTING FOR THE LAST 8 SPOTS:
ATLANTIC-10- It would appear as of now that if Davidson keeps winning they will receive a bid even if they don’t win the conference tournament. One or even 2 of the following teams could receive bids:
Dayton 17-8
VCU 16-7
St.Louis 17-7
AMERICAN- Houston is a lock but there are some new shooters.
SMU 18-5- The Mustangs have taken over first place in the league.
Memphis 14-8- They are starting to play like everyone thought they were capable of.
BIG-12- There are 5 locks from this conference and one almost a certainty.
TCU 16-6 The Horned Frogs are 5-5 in the conference. A 9-9 record would probably be enough to get in.
ACC- It’s a down year for the conference but they have 2 teams that are locks and 2 more that are almost in. Could probably get 1 more bid.
Virginia 16-9 The Cavaliers have the reputation and are closing fast. Huge week for them.
BIG TEN- The Conference has 5 teams that are locks and Indiana is close.
Iowa 17-7 If the Hawkeyes can knock off a couple of Big Ten heavyweights down the stretch they should get in.
MOUNTAIN WEST- This league has Wyoming and Colorado State which are locks and they could get a couple or more bids.
Boise State 19-6 The Broncos deserve a bid.
San Diego State 15-6- Don’t count the Aztecs out.
MISSOURI VALLEY- This league should only get one bid, unless Loyola fails to win the tournament championship. They might get in on reputation as an at-large.
Loyola Chicago 19-5
Missouri State 19-8
SEC- This powerhouse league has 6 locks.
Florida 16-9- The Gators are playing better and if they can get a marquee win they could get in.
C-USA- Here is another league that is strong this year but more than likely will receive only one bid unless UAB doesn’t win the tournament.
UAB 19-6
La Tech 18-6
North Texas 18-4
OVC- This league will definitely get only one bid as long as Murray State wins the conference tournament. But they are going to be hard to keep out if they keep rolling up wins and get beat in the conference tournament.
Murray State 24-2
Belmont 22-5
MAC- Ohio and Toledo both are making a case for tournament bids. –
