Dudes Who Bet Sports Bottom 10 9/5/2021

It was quite a week for the Dudes prestigious Bottom 10 Poll. Did anyone do enough to play their way out of this purgatory? We did actually have two of our illustrious teams actually win a game. However, they were against FCS schools and that isn’t very impressive. Let’s unveil the new Bottom 10 for the week of 9/5 through 9/12.

No.10: NEBRASKA The Huskers moved from 8th to 10th after that super-impressive win over over Fordham. Sorry, Huskers you get to drop down 2 spots, but not completely out of the poll. Next Loss: Buffalo

No.9: WASHINGTON The Huskies make their debut into the bottom 10th at No.9 after their underwhelming performance against Montana which is a FCS opponent. They lost this game in Seattle and all the trendy coffee shops in town refused to serve anyone associated with the football program. Next Loss: at Michigan

No.8: UNLV The Rebels lost 35-33 to Eastern Washington, an FCS school, but it took two overtimes to do it and that allowed them to move down a spot from 7 to 8. There is no truth to the rumor that the Eastern Washington coaching staff is being investigated in a point shaving scandal as this is being written. Next Loss: at Arizona State

No.7 BOWLING GREEN The Falcons moved down a spot from 6 to 7. Despite losing 38-6 at Tennessee, they only trailed by eight at halftime and that is good enough to move up in this poll sometimes. Next Loss: South Alabama

No.6 NEW MEXICO STATE The Aggies moved down five spots from 1 to 6 after traveling to San Diego State and actually leading 10-0 at the half. That kind of performance is always appreciated when evaluating these teams. Of course they came back to reality in the 2nd half and plummeted to a 28-10 defeat. Next Loss: at New Mexico

No.5 LOUISIANA MONROE: The Warhawks continue to move down since debuting in the poll at 3. They have now moved down to 5 despite being idle one week and losing 45-10 to Kentucky on Saturday. They continue to benefit from the atrocious play of the teams above them but are determined to be back in the Top-3 by the end of the season. Next Loss: Jackson State (9/18)

No.4 VANDERBILT: What a performance by the Commodores this past Saturday! They took on the powerful East Tennessee State Buccaneers and after gaining a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, proceeded to get outscored the rest of the way and posted a 23-3 loss. That dropped this fantastic SEC school from 10 to 4. Next Loss: at Colorado State

No.3 UMASS: They have given a new definition to the term “Minutemen”. It now means hopelessly out of a football game in a minute. They stubbornly held on the 3 spot after losing 51-7 to Pittsburgh. Next Loss: Boston College

No.2 AKRON: The Zips got a scare from UMass who were threatening to take over the 2 spot. They responded by losing 60-10 at Auburn showing what kind of a team they truly are. Next Loss: Temple

No.1 UCONN- Making their first appearance at the top spot are the Huskies of UConn. They now have lost 45-0 to Fresno State on the 28th of August and followed that up with a 38-28 defeat at the hands of Holy Cross last Saturday. The Crusaders are members of the Patriot Conference and the Huskies complained that they were just doing their patriotic duty losing to this team but that wasn’t enough to impress me from giving them the No. 1 spot. Next Loss: Purdue

Dropping Out of the Poll: Kansas

Trying to Play Their Way In: Georgia Tech, Temple, Northwestern, Colorado State
