2021 New York Giants: They Spent a Lot of Money in the Offseason to Win

The Giants need to see improvement from third-year quarterback Daniel Jones. He has made some strides in his two years with a bad team and now is the time to start making some winning plays. Management went out and added a big-play receiver in Kenny Golladay to add a weapon for Jones. Defensively, they have talent and the secondary is one of the best. In this division, it doesn’t take much to move up

The return of running back Saquon Barkley from a torn ACL is significant to the improvement of the offense (provided he is healthy). To protect him some, they signed veteran Devontae Booker to get most of the third down carries. They addressed a need at receiver with the signing of Kenny Golladay and drawing Kadarius Toney from Florida. This will allow dependable Sterling Shepard to move back to the slot. The offensive line needs to step up and play much better than they have in the past.

On defense, the secondary is the strength of the unit. All-Pro cornerback James Bradberry will be joined by two solid safeties Xavier McKinney and Jabrill Peppers. Linebacker Blake Martinez will be seeking his fifth straight 100-tackle season. On the defensive front, double-digit sack man, Leonard Williams will team up with Dexter Lawrence II. There is sufficient talent on defense.

Schedule:

Must Wins: Denver, Carolina, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta

Toss-Ups: Vegas, at Washington, at LA Chargers, at Philadelphia, at Chicago, Dallas, at New Orleans

Probable Losses: LA Rams, at Dallas, at Kansas City, at Tampa Bay, at Miami

Summary in Two Sentences: This is a team that could be a surprise in 2021 if the quarterback takes the “third-year step”. The division is weak and the schedule isn’t overwhelming; 8 or 9 wins are possible.

Predicted Finish: 3rd Place in the NFC East
