2021 Jacksonville Jaguars: New Boss in Town

The Jaguars have two new faces that have caused considerable excitement is North Florida. They hired Urban Meyer who has never coached at any level in the pros and drafted the franchise quarterback of the future (they hope) in Trevor Lawrence. No one can argue with Meyer’s success as a college coach but successful college coaches have a way of being failures in the NFL so the jury is out until proven otherwise. Lawrence will probably start in Year 1, but he has everything a team could want in a quarterback. It look like an interesting season for Jacksonville.

After a 1-15 season in 2020, there is nowhere to go but up. With the No. 1 overall pick, they selected Trevor Lawrence and no one expects him to fail in the NFL. He has won at every level and, while, there will be some growing pains, he will be the face of the franchise. Undrafted rookie running back, James Robinson rushed for 1070 yards and scored 7 touchdowns and he has to prove it wasn’t a fluke. They signed Marvin Jones Jr., (76 catches) away from Detroit to give Lawrence another weapon to work with. They surprisedly brought back all 5 starters from an offensive line that gave up 44 sacks in 2020

The defense was awful in 2020 allowing 31 points per game and Meyer hired Joe Cullen as the defensive coordinator. They have two solid linebackers in Joe Schobert and Myles Jack and signed cornerback Shaquill Griffin to beef up the secondary. They also signed free agent Rayshawn Jenkins at safety. The defensive line is a work in progress and remains to be seen how all that plays out.
