2021 Detroit Lions: They Can Build Cars in Detroit but Not Football Teams

It’s like a broken record in the Motor City when talking about the Lions. They are rebuilding again and again and again. In the offseason they parted ways with Matthew Stafford who had great numbers but it didn’t mean much when it came to wins. The new guy is former wonder-boy, Jared Goff who was acquired from the Rams in exchange for Stafford. He is younger and he has Super Bowl experience but the Rams decided the older Stafford was better. Stay tuned too see how this plays out.

Besides Goff, the Lions continue to search for a running back. They are hoping D’Andre Swift is the guy as he was productive last year despite taking only 40% of the snaps. The receiving room is full fo question marks as three starters are gone from last year. T.J. Hockenson leads the weapons that Goff will have to throw too. At least the offensive line is solid, led by Pro-Bowl center Frank Ragnow. Tackle, Taylor Decker is also coming off a great 2020.

The defensive front will have a different look in 2021 with the acquisition of Michael Brockers from the Rams. They also selected Levi Onwuzurike and Alim McNeill in the draft. The linebacking position is a very big weakness and it wasn’t addressed much in the offseason. The secondary had a lot of problems last season and they are hoping Jeff Okudah will show progress. from a dreadful 2020.
