Breaking from post 3 under Martin Garcia, Sneaking Out sat just behind Artistic Diva for the early running. She ranged up three-wide at the top of the stretch and steadily wore down the leader, taking over halfway home.

The Jerry Hollendorfer trainee saved enough to hold off the 1/2 favorite Bellafina by 3/4 of a length in the end. She completed the 6 1/2-furlong fast main track sprint in a final time of 1:14.62 – just 0.14 seconds off of Finest City’s record set in 2016.

“We were able to sit in the exact spot I wanted early, just behind the speed, and she felt strong,” Garcia said. “I made sure we stayed in our lane into the stretch. She dug in and wouldn’t let them by.”

Amuse rallied late to take third by a 1/2-length over Artistic Diva. Hang a Star, Zusha, and Donut Girl completed the order of finish.

Sneaking Out’s win was her second at the stakes level, having won the 2019 Evening Jewel Stakes over fellow California-breds at Santa Anita Park. The 4-year-old Indian Evening filly improved her record to 11-5-4-0 with $431,441 earned.

“That was nice,” Hollendorfer said. “She was laying outside and she got a little breather around the turn, and when he asked her to go, she had a lot left. She finished up really well.”

Sneaking Out returned $16.40 to win and $4.40 to place, while Bellafina paid $2.20 to place. There was no show betting.
