Sistercharlie Nearing 2020 Debut

ELMONT, NY – The world-class female turf sensation Sistercharlie worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.88 over the Belmont Park inner turf course on Sunday morning as she nears her 2020 debut for trainer Chad Brown.

“It was a very good work,” Brown said. “I’m happy with the way she’s doing. She looks as good as ever.”

Sistercharlie is reportedly targeting the $200,000 Ballston Spa Stakes (G2) at Saratoga for her 2020 debut.

The 6-year-old Irish-bred Myboycharlie mare has won seven Grade 1s since joining Brown’s contingent and was voted the Eclipse Award Champion Turf Filly in 2018, when she ended the year victorious in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).

Sistercharlie won her first 3 starts in 2019 but could not repeat in the Breeders’ Cup, finishing third in the 2019 Filly and Mare Turf.

Though unraced since that defeat, she has historically returned sharp from lengthy layoffs and should be expected to fire fresh off the bench wherever she appears.
