ELMONT, NY – Klaravich Stables’ Search Results took the lead a furlong out and had enough left in the tank to withstand Obligatory‘s late push in Saturday’s $500,000 Acorn Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.

Search Results broke from the far outside under Javier Castellano as the 4/5 favorite in the field of five 3-year-old fillies and settled into a close stalking position while remaining in the clear.

Dayoutoftheoffice led Make Mischief down the backside through opening fractions of :23.50 and :47.23 before turning for home still in command but coming under fire from Search Results.

The Chad Brown-trained bettors’ choice grinded out a mid-stretch lead-stealing move, then kept late-running Obligatory a 1/2-length behind before completing the one-turn fast dirt mile in 1:35.50.

“The pace wasn’t fast, but she was right there,” Castellano said. “That’s the good thing about her. You can put her where you want. You can be a little closer to the pace or you can be a little bit off the pace. I don’t think she’s a difficult horse to manage. She’s very easy and straightforward. I’m just lucky I had the opportunity to ride her.”

Obligatory charged home from last to take second by 1 length over Make Mischief, who nosed out a fading Dayoutoftheoffice for third.

Search Results’ win was her fourth from 5 career starts and followed a narrow last-out defeat in the Kentucky Oaks (G1). Purchased for $310,000 as a yearling, the Flatter filly has now bankrolled $804,000.

“I’m just so proud of her, to come back in 5 weeks after a real dog fight (in the Oaks),” said Brown. “To bounce right back and lay it on the line again, this filly has so much talent and so much heart. She’s a very rare kind of horse to have. We’re so lucky to have her.”
