General Saturday’s Super Six January 14, 2012 General Saturday’s Super Six January 14, 2012 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article Here are six horses that stole the show this Saturday: 1. Jackson Bend – His win in the Hal’s Hope was enough for me to put him number one. I thought he’d win this race, but the rough trip would have given him an excellent excuse if he would have lost. Instead, he waited patiently and fired when he finally got into the clear. I really hope we get a Shackleford vs. Jackson Bend vs. Caleb’s Posse matchup in the Met Mile. 2. Now I Know – There is just no telling how good this horse is going to be. She’s now 6 for 6 and did it with no problem today, beating a decent horse in Aimie’s Dini. The sky is the limit for this filly, and she’s in great hands with veteran trainer Don Von Hemel and veteran jockey Perry Compton. She’s a real feel good story, and hopefully she’ll make it to the big races so it can be told to the world. 3. Tapizar – Man did this guy prove me wrong! I thought his San Fernando victory was outstanding and my hopes are now high that he might be a force this season in the Handicap division. He showed great natural speed, and his prior “head issues” seem to be gone. 4. Spring Hill Farm – It was only a maiden, but this Todd Pletcher filly was never challenged today. We’ll have to see her run against better company to make a true judgement, but I think she’s a stakes caliber filly. 5. Silver Medallion – It was a nice win for him in the Ft. Lauderdale, but I’m very skeptical on the quality of that race. He’s a very nice colt, but needs to prove it to me again before I buy in completely. 6. Najjaar – It was an impressive maiden win for Najjaar, as he looked like he was beat for most of the race. His late “Zenyatta style” closing kick was fun to watch! Look for him in the Southwest Stakes next at Oaklawn next. Biggest Flop: -Flat Out – Probably shouldn’t have run him on the turf, it was obvious he didn’t care for it much. I’d give him a little rest and get him back to the dirt ASAP! Here is a video of the Hal’s Hope Stakes [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqKEo7hlpWQ&feature=player_detailpage]
