Horse Watch Saratoga Report #7: The Awards September 4, 2012 Horse Watch Saratoga Report #7: The Awards September 4, 2012 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article Questing Stole the Show at Saratoga Horse of the Meet: Questing – There were many great performances, but this filly became an absolute super start during this meet. She swept the three-year old filly series in winning the Coaching Club Oaks, and Alabama Stakes Older Male of the Meet: Fort Larned – Plenty of horses to choose from in this category, but I felt like Fort Larned gave us the best performance of them all. Older Female of the Meet: Love and Pride – She slayed two giants in Royal Delta and It’s Tricky, so I think she deserves this award. 3 Year Old Male of the Meet: Alpha – Anytime you sweep both the Jim Dandy and Travers, you are the obvious choice for this spot. 3 Year old Female of the Meet: Questing – Already been discussed, clearly the best in this group. 2 Year old Female of the Meet: So Many Ways – After ALL those amazing maiden winners, So Many Ways snuck up on them all and won two Stakes, including the Grade 1 Spinaway. Fantastic looking horse here… 2 Year old Male of the Meet:Spurious Precision – Lots of good choices for this award, but you have to go with Spurious Precision based on the fact he won two races at Saratoga with ease. Sprinter of the Meet: Emcee – Wow, that was some kind of performance in the Forego. This is no doubt he is the best sprinter in the east right now. Owner of the Meet: Mike Repole – He won the owners title, and he is Mr. Saratoga. Easy choice for this award. Trainer of the Meet: Todd Pletcher – His domination with two-year olds won him this award once again. Jockey of the Meet: Ramon Dominguez – Absolutely awesome meet for one of the better guys in horse racing. Race of the Meet: The Travers – The race lost so much luster because of injuries and defections, but it certainly delivered us with an amazing race when Golden Ticket and Alpha finished in a dead heat.
