Rushing Fall Flies in Just a Game

ELMONT, NY –  Rushing Fall flashed her early speed as she rocketed out of the gate and never looked back in Saturday’s $700,000 Longines Just a Game Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park. This was the fourth consecutive win for the four-year-old filly who remains undefeated in her four career grade 1 starts.

Breaking from the gate as the 1-2 post time favorite, Rushing Fall shot to the lead and quickly put space between herself and the rest of the field. Daddy is a Legend was second best followed closely by Bellavais and Capla Temptress with the rest of the field strung out and Beau Recall on the rear. Daddy is the Legend was the only real threat to Rushing Fall’s lead when she challenged Rushing Fall around the turn, however, Rushing Fall easily repelled her challenge and cruised to an easy victory. Daddy is a Legend continued on well, but Beau Recall flew up down the stretch and got up in the nick of time to beat Daddy is a Legend by a nose in a photo for second.

“She’s just so versatile; the different distances she can run and her running style,” said trainer Chad Brown. “She doesn’t need the lead but she has enough speed she can really hurt you. A horse like this does not come around very often. I want to speak to [owner] Bob Edwards but I feel the logical thing to do is get her back to 1 1/8 miles in the[Grade 1] Diana.”

Rushing Fall returned $3.40 to win, $2.50 to place, and 2.10$ to show. Beau Recall brought back $3.50 to place and $2.40 to show, while Daddy is a Legend paid $2.60 to show.
