Racing returns to Churchill Downs under the lights at Opening Night. Kick off Kentucky Derby week in style with live racing and entertainment in celebration of the upcoming Kentucky Derby. First post is at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Glencrest Farm and JSM Equine’s Blofeld, perfect in three career starts that includes victories in the Nashua (GII) and Futurity (GII), tops a field of six 3-year-olds entered in tonight’s first running of the $100,000 William Walker at six furlongs on the main track.
The $100,000 William Walker is a new six-furlong race for 3-year-olds named for African-American jockey and 1877 Kentucky Derby winner William “Billy” Walker and highlights “Opening Night Presented by Stella Artois & Finlandia Vodka” that launches Kentucky Derby Week and the 38-day 2015 Spring Meet.
