Racing Dudes Three Stars of the Week: Rymska Returns to Winner’s Circle

There is no doubt that this past weekend’s racing action was slow. The Breeders’ Cup is now less than two weeks away, which is really all that is on our minds at the moment. However, there were still some winning performances worth recognizing, which is what we’ll do right now. Here are our Three Stars of the Week:

1. Rymska

When she is on her game, she can compete with some pretty solid company. Rymska was making just the second start of her season in the Grade 3 Athenia Stakes at Belmont Park on Sunday. Sent off at odds of 4/1, she sat a perfect inside trip while stalking the early pace. When swinging for home, she looked as though she was loaded for a big run, which is exactly what she did – she swooped by her rivals to win by 2 1/2 lengths. You would have to think that bigger and better things are in store for this filly next. She is back in top form, which could mean she is set for a strong finish to this season while also getting ready for a solid 2019 campaign.

2. Offering Plan

It was New York Showcase Day at Belmont Park on Saturday, which is always a fun-filled day of racing featuring several stakes restricted to New York-breds. Offering Plan came up with the biggest performance of them all. He turned the $200,00 Mohawk Stakes into a laugher, winning by 6 lengths while earning a 105 Beyer speed figure. He sat a little off the pace early, then exploded down the lane while continuing to pull away as they hit the wire. The win was the eighth of his career and pushed his lifetime earnings to $758,423.

3. Shamrock Rose

Trainer Mark Casse has had a nice year with this filly who won her third straight on Saturday in the Grade 3 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland, the first graded victory of her career. Shamrock Rose sat just off the pace early in the race before making a four-wide rally down the lane. In the end, she easily passed all of her rivals while picking up a 2 1/2-length win. She has now amassed $367,687 in career earnings while showing that she could be ready for even tougher company in her next start.
